What I am Reading These Days
Originally posted on September 20, 2014, this is simply an update to what I've been up to when it comes to reading... just random life stuff.
When electronic readers first came out, I was a skeptic. I had no idea how I would be able to read from a back lit device in stead of holding an actual book in my hands.
But once I got a Kindle Fire... I was hooked. Not only could I download a book immediately and begin to read.. I didn't have to go to the book store to decide which book to get out of the 100s of thousands to choose from.
I could also download the app to my phone and laptop and read from these devices if my Kindle went dead ( and it did... a lot!). I could also Facebook, Pintrest and surf the internet and play games.
I recently purchased an iPad mini and sold my Kindle Fire. I can read and keep my same "book shelf" that I had previously. So it was a great trade!
I like to look for FREE books and download what appeals to me. The draw back with this is that I end up with books that have gone unread for months! But all is good... I usually get to them eventually!
Currently on my reading list:
Daily Devotional Reading
1) Undaunted: 365 Daily Devotions by Christine Caine
2) Believing God: Day by Day by Beth Moore
Fiction:
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (finished...saw the movie...oh, my!)
Non-Fiction:
Unleash! By Pastor Perry Noble (I just finished this yesterday)
Recently Read:
The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst (finished..must read!)
Things My Grandmother Taught Me About Organized Living by Gloria Barry (finished...great read, helpful!)
On My List to Read Next
Non Fiction:
Overwhelmed by Pastor Perry Noble (finished...excellent!)
Unstoppable by Christine Caine (reading NOW!)
Spiritual Warfare by Jerry Rankin (up next)
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (just started!)
Fiction:
The Drop by Michael Connelly
Warrior Woman by Summer Lee (finished...GREAT read!!)
Second Term by John Price
The Day by John Price
Warning by John Price
Oh, and I am also reading through a DHEC codes and food safety codes document that reads a lot like Greek... Just saying... this is one boring read, but necessary if we are going to get Coffee @ The Core up and running soon! Beside, who doesn't love a good cup of coffee and a good book???
UPDATE!!!: I passed the exam and Coffee @ The Core is now OPEN!!
I believe that reading expands your mind and has the ability to take you on "mental vacations" without leaving your comfy place. And I also learn lots of seemingly random facts that may or may not ever be relevant to my everyday... but at least I know them!
Blessings! and Happy Reading!

There is something aesthetic about holding a
book, smelling the paper,
hearing the pages turn, highlighting a page,
making a note here and there.
