Children of the Day Week 5

Beloved Bible Study teacher, Kay Arthur, would say to you just now...

"Hangeth Thou In There!"

If you have made it this far in our study together, then let me say how proud I am of you!  You are doing an amazing job of seeking to be a woman of grace and beauty who finds her strength in the Word of the Lord.  Hang in there and don't give up!!

In day 1 of this week's lessons we looked up John 10:10 and was asked the question "What kind of life did Christ say He'd come to give?"  The answer being abundant life.

Abundant= 1. existing or available in large quantities; plentiful

2. having plenty of something

synonyms
plentiful, copious, ample, profuse, rich, lavish, abounding
liberal, generous, bountiful, large, huge, great
bumper, overflowing, prolific, teeming;

Zero in on that definition and the synonyms.  How does this definition bring more light to the topic of "abundant life" that Jesus said he wants for us??

Keep that though in mind for just a moment.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 ESV

Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, 11 and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12 so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

Paul was writing the Thessalonians to keep doing what God himself had taught them to do! They were doing well in the area of love.  In case they misunderstood the reason of Love's importance he went on to explain that those outside the faith of Christ are watching...and are looking for something that is real.

Love Grows.  Love Flows.

And so, as we continue our journey, I want to encourage you in the area of LOVE.  Knowing that Christ loved us first, let us press on to love Him more and more.

If you cannot make it to a group session for this week's video session, please go over to Life Way and download the video for session four.  This is an important video session. One that is, I believe, imperative for us as women to consider as we think about these two points:

1) How much LIFE did Christ say he wanted us to have?
    (see top of post)
2) Is my Love for Him growing more and more? or less and
    less?

This week's video session will focus in on
1 Thessalonians 4: 1-7 and addresses the issue of sexual immortality.

Beth offers a 28 Day Prayer Challenge that might not be a bad opportunity for each of us to participate in since our culture is demanding more and more sexual immorality as a norm of life.

"If you were God, where would you draw the line? Where would you set the limitations?"

Back to my earlier question:
How much LIFE did Jesus say He wants for us?

In the coming weeks, we will be looking at end-times and what the scripture teaches, but this week, we are going to prepare our minds, hearts and lives by addressing this very important topic of purity as a Christ Follower.

REVIEW THE WEEK:
Principal Questions:
DAY 1: What kind of life did Christ say He'd come to give in John 10:10?
DAY 2:  Exactly why did the Thessalonians have no need for anyone to write to them about
             brotherly love?
DAY 3:  What two reasons did Paul give for the directives he issued in verse 11?
DAY 4:  What group of people has the first access at the coming of the Lord?
DAY 5:  What similarities and differences did you note between Exodus 19:16-20 and 1
             Thessalonians 4:16-18?

Personal Questions:
DAY 1: How does the phrase "more and more" contradict the notion of a place of arrival in
the earthly journey in which we hiply maintain from there?
DAY 2:  Do you have an example of someone who seemed to have learned biblical truth
straight from God without textbook, training or human teacher?
DAY 3:  What is the most prominent lesson you've had to learn about minding your own
             business?
DAY 4:  What might be gained through thinking of death in terms of sleep?
DAY 5:  What are you most curious about concerning end-time events?
